'Inside Out' Character Posters

Here are some new character posters from Pixar's upcoming feature film, Inside Out!

These five emotions live inside the mind, or "headquarters" of an 11-year-old girl named Riley. In the movie, Riley moves from the Midwest to San Francisco when her father starts a new job. Riley is guided by her emotions as they help advise her through her daily life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley's main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.

Inside Out is directed by Pete Docter (director of Monsters, Inc. and Up) and produced by Jonas Rivera (producer of Up). The cast of the movie includes Amy Poehler (Joy), Bill Hader (Fear), Mindy Kaling (Disgust), Phyllis Smith (Sadness), and Lewis Black (Anger). The "major emotion picture" comes to theaters on June 19, 2015.

New 'Inside Out' Posters!

Two new posters have been revealed for Pixar's next feature-length movie, Inside Out.

As you can see above, the posters are filled with the five main emotions from the movie. Director Pete Docter describes the characters as their version of the seven dwarfs. "They're really pushed caricatures and have strong personalities." Here's an excerpt from Ed Catmull's book Creativity Inc. on Pete Docter's description of the characters:

"We have our main character, an emotion called Joy (Amy Poehler), who is effervescent. She literally glows when she's excited. Then we have Fear (Bill Hader). He thinks of himself as confident and suave, but he's a little raw nerve and tends to freak out. The other characters are Anger (Lewis Black), Sadness (Phyllis Smith)--her shape is inspired by teardrops--and Disgust (Mindy Kaling), who basically turns up her nose at everything. And all these guys work at what we call Headquarters."

Inside Out arrives to theaters this upcoming year on June 19.

Gary Rydstrom is Directing an Animated Movie at Lucasfilm

Gary Rydstrom is a distinguished sound designer and director. He was won seven Academy Awards in his career. Gary has contributed to a lot of projects at Pixar, going all the way back to Luxo Jr. John Lasseter proclaimed that it was Rydstrom's work on Luxo Jr., such as creating the lamp's voice like the squeak of a lightbulb being screwed in,  that taught him how sound can be a partner in the storytelling of a film. Gary Rydstrom has done the sound design for numerous Pixar movies including Finding Nemo and Brave. He also has directed short films Lifted and Hawaiian Vacation.

BREAKING: 'Toy Story 4' Will Be Released In 2017

The Toy Story trilogy is the most beloved movie series on the planet. So when the third one ended so perfectly when Andy gave his toy collection to Bonnie, Pixar had decided that the Toy Story films were complete, right? Nope.

"So long, partner."

Toy Story 4 is indeed happening and it is set to be released on June 16, 2017. John Lasseter who directed the first two Toy Story movies will return and direct the fourth film. Here's Mr. Lasseter's comments on the fourth installment in the Toy Story series: “We love these characters so much; they are like family to us. We don’t want to do anything with them unless it lives up to or surpasses what’s gone before. Toy Story 3 ended Woody and Buzz’s story with Andy so perfectly that for a long time, we never even talked about doing another Toy Story movie. But when Andrew, Pete, Lee and I came up with this new idea, I just could not stop thinking about it. It was so exciting to me, I knew we had to make this movie—and I wanted to direct it myself.” John Lasseter is referring to Andrew Stanton (director of Finding Nemo and WALL-E), Pete Docter (Monsters, Inc. and Up), and Lee Unkrich (Toy Story 3). Writing duo Rashida Jones and Will McCormack are also working on Toy Story 4, and it will be produced by longtime Pixarian Galyn Susman (producer of Toy Story of TERROR!).

There's a lot of skepticism whether this film is really needed, and that it is just being made for the money. After all, Disney's CEO Bob Iger did announce the news the same day that Disney reports their record fiscal year results. John Lasseter denies naysayers and had this to say: "A lot of people in the industry view us doing sequels as being for the business of it, but for us it's pure passion. We only make sequels when we have a story that's as good as or better than the original. We don't just, because of the success of a film, automatically say we're going to do a sequel and then figure out what we're going to do." He also told The LA Times that 'Toy Story 4' will be a love story and will pick up where 'Toy Story 3' left off, when Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the rest of the series' toy chest of characters were handed down to a little girl named Bonnie.

Toy Story 4 will be a love story?

The next Toy Story film to be released is a 22-minute holiday television special. It is called Toy Story That Time Forgot and it will air this December 2nd on ABC. The synopsis for the short film is: During a post-Christmas play date, the Toy Story gang find themselves in uncharted territory when the coolest set of action figures ever turn out to be dangerously delusional. It's all up to Trixie, the triceratops, if the gang hopes to return to Bonnie's room in this “Toy Story That Time Forgot.”

New Cars Toon: 'To Protect and Serve'

Last year it was announced at the D23 Convention that two new Cars Toons were going to be released in 2014. The first one was Radiator Springs 500 1/2, and it premiered on Disney Movies Anywhere last May. The other one is titled To Protect and Serve, which has been pushed back to next year (2015). Here's the logo from the upcoming short film:
This is the synopsis: When Sheriff takes a mandatory vacation, two overzealous rookies from County take over his duties in Radiator Springs. Bent on making a good impression to score commendations, the rookies over-do every aspect of their jobs, finding “crimes” at every turn and turning the quiet little town into a hotbed of taped-off crime scenes. No one is safe and everyone’s a suspect until Sheriff senses an imbalance and returns home to right the “justice” that’s been served.
Mike 07 is in blue and Didi 05 is in white.
The main cars and voice cast from Radiator Springs will return in this short including two new characters: Mike 07 (voiced by Aziz Ansari) and Didi 05 (voiced by Wendi McLendon-Covey). To Protect and Serve is directed by Scott Morse, co-directed by Rob Gibbs, and produced by Mary Alice Drumm and Nicole Paradis Grindle. The date is still undecided, but it will be released sometime next year.
